It seems like just yesterday when I was fretting about what I'm going to do to occupy the kids during the summer hours, and now I'm fretting about getting the kids ready for school in September. Maybe I should just admit to myself that maybe I'm just a fretter by nature!
This back-to-school season is a bit unique for us, in that both kids will be attending the same school. That's right, Emi is starting kindergarten! That means, among other things, we will have to be more mindful when buying uniforms, since we will now have to buy twice as many as we are used to. Luckily, Isaac can still fit into the majority of last year's shirts, so I only have to worry about buying pants this year. Emi, however, will need the head-to-toe purchasing treatment! Not that I mind too much, of course...I love shopping for little girl clothes, and I especially love finding good bargains.
Our school's uniform rules are red or white tops and navy bottoms, and all-navy dresses for girls. And I have discovered that some of the best deals in uniforms isn't during back-to-school season, and it isn't in the uniform section...it's during the spring or summer sales when you can find normal clothes that happen to be navy/red/white at deep discounts. However, some retailers are ultra-cool and will have a big sale on kids clothing in the end of summer, which is just the thing to put moms in the back to school mood!
Does your school have uniforms or free dress? How much input do you allow your kids on their school wardrobes? Let me know in the comments!
