We had our first autumn day yesterday, and it felt so good to break the heat wave. Hopefully that means temperatures will cool in the Mang household as well: fevers, tantrums, arguments, aches, and restlessness are plaguing us as of late.
Note to self: in the midst of fucking up your marriage, try to remember this:
It's not really that simple, but it can be.
Yesterday, I got to go to the mall with my mom and my sister. It's been a long, long while since we've done this, just the three of us. It felt so natural and relaxing to leisurely wander around pristine aisles containing lovely, tastefully overpriced bullshit with my two lifelong shopping partners. We also had a wonderful meal at Marche Moderne, where I dug into teriyaki pork belly and fuyu persimmon confit with star jasmine, aka Autumn on a Plate:
To top the day off, for my birthday, Joanna got me this jacket:
It is made of the plushiest fleece ever, and it seriously looks like I skinned Grover and am wearing him as a fur coat. Believe me, the imagery could have been grimmer: I was this close to looking like I skinned Oscar the Grouch instead, but they didn't have my size. Anyway, it's my new favorite thing, I even wore it to bed last night. Isaac, aka Mr. Tactile Textile, coveted it so I let him snuggle with it for a while and actually bought one for him online. It is only sold for girls, but I got him a gray one and I'm sure no one will notice.

Sorry my posts have been so blah this month. I seem to have lost my blogging mojo, and I'm trying to get back into the swing of writing by simply reporting what happened the day prior. Hopefully this is just a phase and I'll be back to my vulgar shenanigans soon.
