All of us were so excited for this day. Uniforms were cleaned and hung up, snacks were packed, backpack placed next to the door.
It was a sunny morning as we walked the .4 miles to school. We had to hustle a bit, but we got there on time.
Everyone assembled in the kindergarten playground and lined up when the bell rang. Isaac gave me a quick thumbs-up before heading into the classroom.
We then got to witness the first 10 minutes of school, where the kids sat on the rug as Mrs. K led the class in singing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider": 10 perfect little boys and 10 perfect little girls, eyes shining as they sang and made their finger-spiders crawl in the air. My eyes glistened but I didn't cry; it was everyone's turn to grow up a little bit.
And 3 short hours later, I waited by the exit and found this creature running towards me:
I think it's safe to say that our first day was a success!
